Through our Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, refugee children are better prepared before joining primary school, especially in developing English communication skills.
In many primary schools, teachers use English as the main language of instruction, while many refugee children primarily speak Kiswahili or French. This language barrier often makes learning difficult for them during their early school years. Therefore, ELINDE is bridging the communication and learning gap by introducing ECE programs within refugee communities, helping children gain foundational English skills and confidence before transitioning to primary education.
99% of the children who passed through early childhood education complete primary school. There are many impacts of ECE on children’s performance which are reducing poor performance, reducing early school dropout, and preventing early pregnancies and early marriages among year children. On the other hand, children with no ECE, only less percentage can complete primary school and their perforation is always low.
